Cowboy Bebop is perfect in my eyes. The characters, animation, music or storyline truly some of the best that any anime series has ever seen. I have a major crush on Spike Speigel (and Faye)… is that weird because they’re animated? Wait, don’t answer that. I’m also seriously considering getting a corgi just to be able to name it Ein. And it’s kind of ridiculous how many times I’ve tweeted the words “See you space cowboy…”. I could go on [...]

Sensory overload! NYCC/NYAF is here and I’m beyond excited. It’s my geek Christmas! The con was open for a few hours on Thursday for press, professionals, VIP and 4-day pass holders. Of course I was there in my dalek shirt trying to see as much as I could without the massive crowd that will attend Friday-Sunday. I’ll be there every damn day so if you’re at New York Comic Con/New York Anime Fest hit me up [...]
I, like many little girls, absolutely adored Sailor Moon! I had a major crush on Tuxedo Mask, yes I was fully aware he was animated… don’t judge me. I thought Rei/Sailor Mars was kind of bitchy but I still kind of liked her because of that. But I connected more with Lita/Sailor Jupiter because she was a tomboy and I was going through that phase at the time. Not many other little girls I knew went [...]
“I’ve come to the point where I just can’t make a movie without addressing the problem of humanity as part of an ecosystem.” – Hayao Miyazaki Dear Hayao Miyazaki, It all started one afternoon in my uncle’s room on a hot and humid summer day in The Bronx in 1999. My uncle popped Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime) in the VCR and my brother, cousin and I sat in awe for 134 minutes. Then I watched it again. [...]
I grew up watching the original Pokémon series. I’d be glued to the TV singing along with gusto, “I’m going to be the very best, like no one ever was!”. And dramatically reciting the Team Rocket motto along with Jessie, James and of course Meowth. Well our dear little television show about cute (and not so cute) pocket monsters has grown to epic proportions. Pokémon is the second most successful and lucrative video game-based media franchise [...]

This week I’m featuring Faye Valentine art from Cowboy Bebop. Bebop is one of the best animes of all time (if not the best), but you already knew that. Well… I supposed the “best” part is subjective, so subjectively it’s the best Ponyo cosplay I’ve found for my lovely readers. Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favorite directors/animators and I love to praise him and his work any chance I get. Aside from the Totoro Tattoo Tuesday and Miyazaki Tattoo Tuesday I plan on doing a series of Miyazaki Cosplay posts. Ponyo, along with Miyazaki’s other films, always tickles my heart and gives me the [...]
TETSUOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Sorry, it’s a reflex. I couldn’t help myself. AKIRA is one of my favorite anime films of all time, and one of my favorite films in general. The manga series was written and drawn by Katsuhiro Otomo. Otomo also directed the landmark film which changed anime films from that moment on. I remember when I first saw AKIRA, I was young and although I didn’t “get it” I still instantly fell in love with it and all [...]
