21 Questions for Fringe Season 4

wispb

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS MAJOR SEASON 3 SPOILERS FOR FRINGE.  Like my fellow Fringe fans, the season 3 finale made my brain melt. Here is my attempt to scoop up the pieces and make sense of the finale and theorize about what we may see in season 4. I don’t think any other show has made me ask as many questions as Fringe, and I think that is absolutely wonderful. I have so many questions [...]

Picture of the Week-The Women Firefly Nouveau Posters

Megan Lara is an aspiring illustrator and a “huge nerd” who claims to, ” …draw way too much nouveau, but that’s okay because nouveau is awesome.” And I definitely agree, on the awesome part. You’ve probably seen her nouveau work before whether it was Nintendo Nouveau or Marvel Nouveau. I’m slightly obsessed with her work and have had several brain melts trying to decide on which of her many gorgeous designs to get.  This weeks Pictures of the [...]

A TARDIS Lands in Brooklyn- The Way Station Bar Interview

wheres-the-tardis_3759_wstardisfinished_600

“We didn’t quite realize how many Doctor Who fans there were.”, Doc Wasabassco the manager of The Way Station, told me when I sat down with him in the highly buzzed about steampunk and Doctor Who themed bar The Way Station  in Brooklyn, New York. If you’re a Whovian, chances are this isn’t the first time you’re hearing about “that bar with the TARDIS”. I squeed when I heard about The Way Station’s existence and squeed again when hearing that [...]

Picture of the Week- Star Wars Abstract Art

R2D2 By Tommervik

Tommervik created these wonderful cubism infused Star Wars artworks. I think The Met or MoMA should make some space on their walls for one of Tommervik’s pieces, don’t you? Check out:

Film Review: “Attack the Block”

222962_166553973405572_163814310346205_380168_5889651_n

Attack the Block is officially my movie of the summer and possibly the year. It’s is like season 4 of The Wire except it takes place in South London, with a grittier Gremlin and Goonies thrown in for good measure. But this is more than an aliens attack story; it’s a film about redemption, friendship, inequality and social commentary (all without being too politically serious). Check out my interview with director Joe Cornish here.

Picture of the Week- Beautiful and Colorful Amy Pond Fan Art

Doctor Who- "In the shadow of your hearts" By Carrie-ko

While getting my daily sh*ts and giggles at Derptor Who- Questionable Doctor Who Fan Art Tumblr I found this absolutely gorgeous piece made by Carrie-ko on one of their Good Art Friday posts. The colors are captivating and Amy looks so delicate and peaceful floating in space it really illustrates science-fantasy. This also reminds me of the beginning of “The Beast Below” from Season 5. Can you spot the Doctor in the picture?
