Tattoo Tuesday Featurette: Andy’s Studio Ghibli & Akira Back Piece

Akira

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Andy: I’m 32, and living in Wales, UK where I work as a security guard and bouncer, whilst completing a film degree in my spare time. Still make time for my comics and Akira collection – my passion! What are your tattoos and why did you get them? Andy: My ‘main’ ink is a large Akira back piece (Notice a theme forming? lol) comprised of the 5th cover [...]

Tattoo Tuesday: The Walking Dead

walking dead tattoo rick grimes 1

The Walking Dead comic is one of the few series that constantly stresses me out. With complex and interesting characters thrown into unbearable situations, there’s bound to be some emotions involved. And for me, it has been all of them. Issue 100 left me devastated for days, to say the least. I still don’t like to talk about it. (Obsessed much?!) Although my opinion of the comic and TV show waivers from positive to negative [...]

Tattoo Tuesday Featurette: Amy’s Space Tattoo

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? I am 38 and have just come out as a sci-fi geek these last few years. It has been so much fun to go to conventions, talk about my favorite shows and books endlessly, and even create a sci-fi book club. In the daytime, I’m opening a seasonal restaurant on a lake with my husband so I can have winters off. What is your tattoo of and why [...]

GGGB: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Nicole: I’m an automation engineer, derby girl, gamer, and blogger. Let’s hear all about your geeky tattoo! Nicole: I have a circuit board heart tattoo. I’ve been in love with technology since I was about 5 and got a toy laptop for Christmas. This love shaped my childhood and eventually became my career. I wanted a way to show my love for something that has given [...]

Tattoo Tuesday Featurette- Shane’s Comic Book Ink

Grant Morrison Tattoo

So there I was, at New York Comic Con sitting in the front row of the Grant Morrison panel waiting for it to start and buzzing with excitement, when I glance to the man to my right and saw Grant’s face on his arm! I freaked out (in a good way) and switched seats with my friend to ask him all about his amazing Grant Morrison tattoo. After we bonded over Grant for a bit he showed [...]

Tattoo Tuesday Featurette- Sue-Ann’s Serenity, Stargate SG-1 & Discworld Ink

Ysabelkid's Firefly/Serenity Tattoo

It’s been a while since I’ve had time to write up a Tattoo Tuesday post, so I’m glad I’m back with some awesome sci-fi ink from a reader! Sue-Ann, nickname ysabelkid, is a huge science fiction fan (if her tattoos didn’t already give that away). She shared with me the beginning stages of her sci-fi back piece which includes Serenity and Stargate SG-1 pieces. Sue-Ann and her boyfriend are even planning a Stargate-themed wedding on Pi Day [...]

As you can tell by now, I’m a big fan of tattoos. But there’s something about Miyazaki related tattoos that I love more than others. I even wrote a Thank You Letter to Miyazki, explaining my love for the animation genius. So when Alexia emailed me her darling tattoo inspired by the Studio Ghibli Great Collection, I instantly fell in love. My next tattoo will be a quote from Sandman, but recently I’ve been considering a Ghibli/Miyazaki related [...]

Tattoo Tuesday- Samurai Champloo

samurai champloo tattoo 9

I’m extremely picky with my anime, but Samurai Champloo is damn near perfect in my eyes. But what else would you expect from the great Shinichirō Watanabe? The animation is sharper than Mugan’s mouth and the soundtrack is smoother than Jin’s swordplay. I was head-over-heels in love with Mugen and Jin. How could you not adore bad boy Mugen and his b-boy fighting skills?! Or admire the reserved and mysterious Jin? And can someone please tell me how [...]

Tattoo Tuesday- ’90s Cartoons (Part 1)

girl gone geek blog tattoo tuesday banner

My head is dizzy with all of this nostalgia! Because of the insane amount of awesomeness that came out of the 1990′s there will be at least one more part to this ’90s Cartoons Tattoo Tuesday (if not more). So if you think I forgot about one of your (and my) favorite childhood cartoons, *cough Doug cough*, don’t worry they’ll be featured next time. Feel free to shout out in the comments any show you want [...]
