Picture of the Week- The Walking Dead

Comics Movies & Television Picture of the Week Zombies

The Walking Dead premiered last night and I couldn’t watch it because I was busy saving the princess with Mario (see slideshow below) so I’ll watch later today.  The Walking Dead is based on the Robert Kirkman comic by the same name.  I’ve been excited about this show since I first heard about it.  Primarily, (if not only) because I love what AMC has been doing lately with TV and it has zombies in it and you already know how I feel about them. I recently read The Waking Dead Compendium One and damn near cried at the end (don’t…

NYCC & NYAF- The Walking Dead Panel

Comics Movies & Television Zombies

The highlight of NYCC, for me, was The Walking Dead Panel by far.  Besides having a soft spot for all things undead, everything I saw and read about The Walking Dead tells me it will be another great television series.  I recently started reading The Walking Dead Compendium One, by Robert Kirkman and I am officially obsessed.  I read it for hours and couldn’t put it down, good thing I have a lot of The Walking Dead material to read since it’s been out since 2003. The ING Theater was filled to capacity, if I hadn’t went in during the…

Art Comics Movies & Television Zombies

I am beyond excited for this show!  If you haven’t heard about AMC‘s upcoming zombie apocalypse show The Walking Dead read about it in a previous post here and watch the trailer here. I think this poster looks great.  It tells a lot even without zombies in it. It airs October 31st during AMC’s annual Fearfest, who is watching this with me?! [Source Think Hero]

Breathers: A Zombie Lament

Books Movies & Television Sci-fi/ Cyberpunk Zombies

Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body, United States of Tara) is set to produce the adaptation of the zom rom com (zombie romantic comedy) novel Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament by S.G. Browne.  The screenplay was written by Geoff LaTulippe (Going the Distance).  Rumor has it that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (newest Hollywood it-boy who deserves it) and Scarlett Johansson (who makes up for her lack of acting skills with curves and good looks) are going to star in the film. Breathers info via Screen Rant: “Breathers tells the tale of a regular man named Andy (presumably Gordon-Levitt’s role) who is resurrected and returns to the world of the…

New AMC Zombie Show: The Walking Dead

Movies & Television Sci-fi/ Cyberpunk Zombies

If you regularly follow this blog you should know by now how I feel about zombies.  Therefore, it should come to no surprise that I am tickled (the shade of brains) pink that AMC is adding zombies to its lineup in the upcoming show The Walking Dead!  Now in recent years AMC has really made an impact in the television world with its highly acclaimed and awarded series Mad Men and Breaking Bad. So I think it’s safe to assume that The Walking Dead will be another winner. The Walking Dead info (via AMC) The Walking Dead [based on the…

Art Random Geekery Sci-fi/ Cyberpunk Zombies

I’m sad to announce that Zombie Week has come to an end here on Gurl Gone Geek.  It was a blast finding all of the gruesome goodies to share with my zombie loving readers.  Hopefully I’ve converted a few over to Team Undead (someone should make that a shirt).  Because not only is the grass greener but it’s splattered with blood and brains!  If not… oh well I know who’s NOT going to be joining my survivalist team when the Zombie Apocalypse happens… which should be any day now. Just because Zombie Week is over doesn’t mean you can’t keep…

Zombie Week- Resident Evil: Afterlife Comic-Con 2010

Movies & Television Sci-fi/ Cyberpunk Videogames Zombies

Resident Evil: Afterlife hits theaters this fall.  They say they are using the same revolutionary 3D cameras as James Cameron used for Avatar, however, Screen Rant wasn’t very impressed by their slow motion action scenes they showed at Comic-Con.  I love the games, because I love killing zombies, I mean who doesn’t?  Me and my brother would wait until our parents were asleep, turn off all the lights and with our trusty weapon arsenal (aka wiimotes) and we immersed ourselves in the Resident Evil world, which in turn provoked a whole lot of cursing and laughing on our parts.  Pardon…
